How To Prepare Easy Mutton Curry In Pressure Cooker

Clean and Trim the Mutton.
Before you begin cooking the mutton curry, it is important to prepare the mutton first. Begin by cleaning the mutton thoroughly and trimming any excess fat. Drain thoroughly in a colander and set aside.

Prep the Ingredients.
Slice two medium onions thinly and also measure the ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric, and chilli powders. Beat yogurt and bring it to room temperature. Chop fresh coriander leaves and also slit the green chillies. Peel and cut two medium potatoes into big pieces.

Add the Onions, and Spices to Create a Base for the Curry.
Once the ingredients are ready, heat 3 to 4 tablespoons of oil in your pressure cooker. Add a few whole spices, such as bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and peppercorns. When the spices begin to splutter add the sliced onions. Slowly sauté the onions, and spices to create a rich and aromatic base for your curry. Once the onions are light brown in colour, add red chilli powder and also Kashmiri chilli powder along with half a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Time this step carefully, so as not to burn the chilli. Add a tablespoon of water if needed and fry for a minute. Also, add coriander and cumin powders and fry for a few seconds.

Cook Mutton in Pressure Cooker Until Tender.
Add the chopped mutton pieces to the pressure cooker and stir until everything is fully incorporated. Reduce the heat, add salt, and then the beaten yogurt. Also, add the potatoes, if using. Mix well and add a cup of hot/warm water. Close the lid securely and turn on the heat to high. Allow the pressure cooker to reach one whistle; once it has, cook for a further 8 to 10 minutes or until the mutton is tender. Make sure to let the pressure cooker release all of the steam on its own.

Garnish the Mutton Curry.
When done, open the lid and turn on the heat once again. Add homemade Garam Masala Powder and garnish with slit chillies and coriander leaves. Simmer for two minutes and then turn off the heat. Enjoy your tasty homemade mutton curry!
