Pala Fish Curry Recipe Step-by-Step

  • Step I. Get the fish cut in the market because there is a typical way of cutting it so that you could remove the bones with ease. The fish is cut lengthwise into two halves, to detach the fish roe easily. Then each half of the fish is cut slantways. This makes it convenient to remove the bones while eating. Next, wash the fish a couple of times and marinate with salt and turmeric till you get the masala paste ready.
  • Step II. Blend ingredients for the masala, in your blender jar. Blend them into a smooth paste, adding water as needed. You could then sieve this masala paste to get a smooth gravy, if you like.
  • Step III. Heat little oil in a vessel and fry the masala paste for 2 to 3 minutes or until you see oil oozing out. Then add water to make the required gravy. When the gravy comes to a boil add the fish which is marinated with salt and turmeric.
  • Step IV. Cover the vessel and cook the fish for at least 6 to 8 minutes on medium heat. Then finally garnish with coriander leaves and turn off the heat. To enhance the taste of the curry, at this stage, you could also add a tablespoon of vinegar.
