Ingredients for Simple Masoor Dal Recipe
- 1 cup red lentils (soaked for 15 minutes)
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 green chillies, slit
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp crushed peppercorns
- Coriander leaves for garnish
- 2 tsp oil
- Water, as needed
How to Cook Masoor Dal Without Pressure Cooker
- Wash masoor dal or red lentil a few times and soak it for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan, add green chillies and onions, and sauté until onions turn golden.
- Next, stir in the soaked red lentils, add salt, turmeric, asafoetida, and enough water to cook the lentils.
- Let it simmer until the dal is soft and creamy.
- Finally, garnish with crushed peppercorns and coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or chapati.
