Ingredients for Sweet & Sour Chicken:
For Marination:
- 450 grams of Boneless chicken, cubed
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Crushed Pepper
- 1 whole Egg
- 2 tbsp Cornflour
- 2 tbsp Maida/AP flour
For Sweet & Sour Sauce:
- 1/4 cup Tomato Ketchup
- 2 tbsp Hot Chili Sauce
- 3 tsp Sugar or Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp White Vinegar
- 1 tsp Dark Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Cornflour
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Other Ingredients:
- 1/4 Yellow Bell Pepper, cubed
- 1/4 Green Bell Pepper, cubed
- 1/4 Red Bell Pepper, cubed
- 1 tsp Oil for cooking
- Oil for deep frying the chicken
Step-by-Step Instructions on How to Make Sweet and Sour Chicken
Step 1. Marinate the Chicken:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cubed chicken with salt, crushed pepper, egg, cornflour, and maida (all-purpose flour).
- Mix well until the chicken pieces are evenly coated.
- Set aside for about 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the chicken to tenderize.
Step 2. Prepare the Sweet & Sour Sauce:
- In a separate bowl, mix together the tomato ketchup, hot chili sauce, brown sugar (or sugar), white vinegar, dark soy sauce, cornflour, and water.
- Stir until the sugar is dissolved, and the cornflour is fully incorporated.
Step 3. Fry the Chicken:
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the marinated chicken pieces in batches. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
