Gather all Ingredients.
Before you start cooking, be sure to gather all of the ingredients. Lightly roast them in a teaspoon of oil . You will need –
– 1 tbsp coriander seeds
– ¾ tsp cumin seeds
– ¾ tsp poppy seeds
-1-inch cinnamon stick
-½ tsp peppercorns
– 2 cloves
– 8 dried red chillies (2 Kashmiri & 4 Bedki)

Once you have all of these ingredients ready, add ginger and garlic and blend them into a fine paste with water. You can then begin the recipe!

Pre-prep the Prawns.
Before cooking your prawns sukka it’s important to pre-prep them. To do this, take about 350 grams of washed and deveined prawns. Add the blended masala paste, turmeric powder, salt and juice of one lemon. Mix well and marinate for 10 to 15 minutes. This will help give them an extra kick of flavor!

Cook the Prawns in a Pan.
To begin the prawns sukka recipe, transfer the marinated prawn in a pan. Cover and cook over a medium-high heat for 5 to 6 minutes. In the meantime coarsely grind 4 tbsp of freshly grated coconut with a pinch of turmeric and set aside.

Add in Prepped Coconut Mixture.
Once the prawns are done, add in the prepared coconut mixture on top. Cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Now, open the lid and stir until it is completely mixed with the other ingredients and has thickened enough.

Lastly, sauté 4 to 5 garlic cloves and a few curry leaves in oil and pour over the cooked prawns. Add in freshly chopped coriander leaves for added flavor before serving with steamed basmati rice, chitaps, or rotis. Enjoy!
