Ingredients for Prawn Curry

Prawns. I have used about 12 to 15 medium prawns or about 300 grams of shelled and deveined prawns for this recipe.

Mangoes. Use raw mangoes, one or two depending on their size. Raw mangoes plucked early in summer are sour and render a mouth-watering tangy taste to the curry. Wash and slice the mangoes and then use them in the curry.

Onion, Chillies & Coriander Leaves. One onion is cut into slices, few green chillies and coriander leaves go into this Prawn Curry along with the mangoes and other ingredients.

Coconut. I like to use freshly grated coconut for this prawn curry or any fish curry. You can use coconut milk as well for this recipe.

Red Chillies. You can use any red chillies that you like. You will need to add these chillies while making the masala paste for the curry.

Garlic & Ginger. Use a few cloves of garlic and a small piece of ginger while blending the masala paste.

Cumin Seeds. Just one teaspoon is enough for this curry.

Tamarind. Use a very small marble size of tamarind and soak it in warm water. Add this to the coconut and other ingredients and blend. You could also skip tamarind if you don’t want your curry to be a little tangier.
