Ingredients
  

  • 2 - 3 Mackerel, washed and cleaned.
  • 2 tbsp Red chilly powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind pulp
  • 1 tsp Gram flour
  • Oil for grilling/basting

How to cook whole mackerel fish

  • Wash and clean the mackerels well. Remove the innards and discard. Make a few slits on the fish.
  • In a bowl add chilly powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, tamarind pulp, gram flour and salt. Apply this paste to the fish, all over inside the cavities and slits. Let it marinate for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a grill pan and add the fish. Grill for 7 - 8 minutes on one side on a medium flame. Flip over and grill for another 6- 7 minutes, till the fish is done.

Notes

  • To grill fish in an oven, preheat the oven to 200 deg C.  Place fish on a grill pan and grill for 15 - 20 minutes.  Flip the fish over once and baste with oil.
