Easy Chicken Fingers Recipe
Chicken Fingers are an easy finger food recipe that you can serve as an appetizer or starter at parties. These are a crowd-pleaser and you are sure to find your guests asking for the recipe. These chicken fingers are a favorite among kids hence make a big batch of these if you have kids at your party. You could also please your kids by packing these chicken fingers in their school lunch boxes.
You also make Chicken Fingers cheesy, by just add some grated cheese to the chicken mixture. But for this recipe I do not add cheese yet my guests ask me if I have added cheese in the chicken fingers. The trick is in the chicken mixture and you will see how..
This recipe for Chicken Fingers is very easy, simple, and gets ready in minutes. Make them in advance and keep them in your refrigerator. When you are ready to serve simply, shallow fry or deep fry the chicken fingers, and serve with any dipping sauce of your choice. I love to serve mine with some plain mayo.

Chicken Fingers Ingredients
- 200 grams Boneless chicken – use boneless chicken for making chicken fingers. You could also use chicken mince if you like.
- 1 tbsp butter – salted or even unsalted butter is ok.
- 2 – 3 Green Chillies – as per your taste.
- 1½ tbsp Maida/All-purpose flour – you could also substitute maida or All-purpose flour with whole-wheat flour to make it healthier.
- 1 Cup Milk – to make a roux.
- Bread slice – blend one bread slice to make fresh bread crumbs and then use it in the recipe.
- 1 Egg – separate the yolk from the egg white and use the yolk for the chicken fingers batter. In to the egg-white add a tbsp of water and beat well and keep it aside, we will use it for frying the chicken finger.
- ½ tsp Pepper powder – use freshly ground pepper powder.
- ½ tsp Oregano – use oregano or any other herb of your choice
- Chilli flakes – using chilli flakes is optional in this recipe, you could skip it.
- Salt to taste and oil for frying.
- Bread crumbs for Chicken Fingers – we will need bread crumbs for coating the chicken fingers before frying.
To make bread crumbs simply blend a few slices of fresh bread in a blender and microwave it for one or two minutes. Use these bread crumbs to bread the chicken fingers before frying.
How to make Chicken Fingers in Microwave Oven or Stove-top
Stove-top Method
- You can make these Chicken Fingers so quick and they turn out amazingly delicious and your kids will love you for them.
- Boil 200 gms boneless chicken with a little salt. Let cool and then blend it coarsely.
- In another pan, heat 1 tbsp butter and add chopped green chillies, maida, and milk to make a thick sauce.
- When cool add bread crumbs, egg yolk, and the chicken. Also, add seasonings for the chicken fingers, as per your taste.
- Form them into finger shapes and then dip them in egg white. Next roll them into the bread crumbs. You can either pan-fry these or deep fry the breaded chicken fingers.
Microwave Oven Method
You can also make Chicken Fingers in the microwave oven to save time.
- For this, you will first have to boil boneless chicken, in a microwave-safe bowl with salt and 1 tsp oil for 4 minutes covered.
- In another bowl, mix butter, chillies, and maida and microwave for 1 minute only.
- Add all other ingredients and then shape them into rolls. Dip each roll first in egg white and then in the bread crumbs. Deep fry or pan-fry the breaded chicken fingers.
How to fry Chicken Fingers
You can either deep fry or shallow fry chicken fingers. Either way, they turn our crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
To deep fry – Take a deep pan or Kadai and add sufficient oil for deep frying. Now dip each roll in beaten egg white and then roll them in bread crumbs. Once the oil is hot drop the chicken fingers carefully one by one but does not overcrowd the Kadai. Reduce the flame and fry till golden brown. Remove them onto an absorbent kitchen tissue and serve hot with sauce or ketchup.
To shallow fry or pan fry – Heat 2 tbsp oil in a frying pan and fry the breaded chicken fingers evenly until you get a golden crumb all over.
Chicken Fingers in Airfryer – To fry the chicken fingers in the air fryer, first pre-heat the air fryer for 10 minutes at 200 deg C. Then place the breaded chicken fingers in the air fryer basket, in a single layer and air fry for 10 minutes. You will need to flip them over halfway through for even frying.
Sauce for Chicken Fingers

Recipe for Chicken Fingers | How to make Chicken Fingers
Ingredients
- 200 grams Boneless chicken
- 1 tbsp Butter

Instructions
How to make Chicken Fingers – Stove-top Method
- Cook chicken on low flame with salt and grind coarsely in a food processor.
- Melt butter in a pan, add chopped green chillies and maida and fry for a minute. Add milk to make a thick sauce. Let cool.
- Add the chicken paste, bread crumbs, egg-yolk, pepper powder, oregano, chilli flakes and salt and shape them into finger shapes.
- Dip the chicken fingers in egg white (mix a tbsp of water and beat) and roll into dried bread crumbs and shallow fry. Alternatively, chicken fingers can also be deep-fried till golden.
How to make Chicken Fingers – Microwave Method
- In a microwave safe bowl, add chicken, salt and 1 tsp oil and cook covered for 4 minutes.
- In another bowl mix butter, chillies and maida and microwave for 1 minute only.
- Add milk, mix well and microwave once again for 1 minute.
- Add chicken paste, bread crumbs, egg yolk, pepper powder, oregano, chilli flakes and salt and shape them.
- Dip the chicken fingers in beaten egg white mixed with 1 tbsp water and roll into dried bread crumbs and shallow fry till golden.
Notes
- Adjust the quantity of milk as per the sauce.
