Ingredients for Green Masala Keema
Gather Ingredients.
Before starting your keema, ensure you have all the ingredients together. This will include ground meat (such as lamb or chicken), onion, tomatoes, green peas, and dill leaves.
You will also need a few whole spices such as cinnamon stick, cloves, green cardamom pods, turmeric powder and garam masala powder.
In addition to these you’ll need fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger, garlic and cumin seeds, for making a smooth green masala paste. Oil for cooking and lemon juice too.
For garnish – freshly chopped coriander leaves and a few slit green chillies.
How to Make Green Masala Keema
Chop Onions and Tomatoes.
Once you start cooking, begin by finely chopping the onions and tomatoes. If you prefer a smoother paste in your Keema, you can also use a blender to blend them together into a coarse paste.
Make a Green Masala Paste.
To really amp up the flavour, make a green masala paste with fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies, ginger, garlic and cumin seeds for an extra layer of flavor. Enjoy!
Cook Onions and Tomatoes.
Heat oil in a pan on medium heat, then add the whole spices and also the onion and fry until translucent. Now add chopped tomatoes and salt and cook until the tomatoes soften.
Saute Mince and add Green Peas.
Once you’ve got the onions and tomatoes combined, add in the minced meat, turmeric and salt and saute’ for about 5-6 minutes. Then add hot water and cook the mince for 20 – 25 minutes.
Next, add the green masala paste and also the green peas and the dill leaves. Simmer the keema in the green masala paste for a few minutes until the it thickens. This will create a rich, flavorful coating for the Keema and give it extra depth of flavor.
Garnish!
Finally, check that all ingredients are cooked thoroughly and then add the garam masala powder and lemon juice. This will help blend in the flavors while giving it an extra kick of flavor! Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and slit green chillies.

Easy Green Masala Keema Recipe For A Perfect Dinner
Ingredients
- 3 to 4 tbsp Oil for cooking
- Whole spices (cinnamon 1", cloves 4, cardamom 3)
- 3 medium Onions chopped
- 2 medium Tomato chopped
- 600 grams Mutton Mince/keema
- ½ tsp Turmeric
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup Green peas
- ¼ cup Dill leaves
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- Coriander leaves & slit chillies for garnish
For Green Masala Paste (grind with water)
- ½ cup Coriander leaves
- ¼ cup Mint leaves
- 8 Green chillies
- 2 inch Ginger
- 10 cloves Garlic
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
Instructions
How to make Green Mutton Keema
- Prepare the green masala paste with a little water and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add whole spices. When the spices sizzle add chopped onions and fry until translucent. Add salt to fasten frying.
- Next, add the chopped tomatoes and when the tomatoes soften add in the mince meat, turmeric and salt. Fry on high heat for 5 to 6 minutes and then add 200 ml hot water. Cover and cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Now add the green masala paste, green peas and 1/4 cup dill leaves. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
- Finally, add lemon juice, garam masala powder and garnish with coriander leaves and slit green chillies.
- Serve Green Mutton Keema with pav, rotis, chapati or naan.
Notes
- Add green chillies as per your taste.
- Adjust cooking time, depending on the heat.
- You could skip dill leaves but it add a nice flavour to the keema recipe.
