Stuffed Pomfret Recipe

A delicious filling stuffed into Pomfret and then shallow fried.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Pomfrets, clean and make slits on it.
  • 1 Turmeric powder
  • 1 Lemon
  • Salt to taste

FOR THE STUFFING

  • 2 medium Onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 3 to 4 Green chillies, choppes
  • 1-inch Ginger chopped
  • ½ tsp Chilly powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder or pepper powder
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp Oil for cooking

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the fish with salt, turmeric and lemon juice and set aside for atleast 15 minutes

Prepare the stuffing/filling

  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the onions, green chillies and ginger.
  • When onions are translucent, add one tomato and fry till it softens. Add salt to taste.
  • Now add chilly powder and turmeric powder
  • Add lime juice and coriander leaves.
  • Let the filling cool and then stuff into the 02 pomfrets
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Dab some flour on the fish and shallow fry till done.

Notes

  1.  The quantity for the stuffing is for two pomfrets.  If you want to stuff only one pomfret then use only one onion and one small tomato.
  2. Dab or sprinkle flour on the fish before frying.  This prevents the fish from sticking to the pan and also gives a nice coat to the fish.
  3. Use either chilly powder or pepper powder to suit your taste.
  4. To serve the fish, cut it along the slits
