- 2 or 3 medium Pomfrets cut into slices
- ½ tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- Salt to taste
For the Green Masala Paste
- ¼ cup Freshly grated coconut
- 1 cup Coriander Leaves
- 5 to 6 Green Chillies
- 1 tbsp Coriander Seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- ½ medium Onion sliced
- 1 inch Ginger
- 5 to 6 Garlic
- Tamarind - a small lemon size ball soaked in warm water
Cut the Pomfret Fish into desired slices and then marinate them with salt and turmeric and set aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
Make a paste of the ingredients, under 'Green Masala Paste'. Add water and blend them into a smooth and thick paste.
Heat oil in a vessel and fry the Green Masala Paste for 3 to 4 minutes or until the raw smell vanishes.
Now add about 1 cup of water to make the curry and bring it to a boil. When the curry comes to a boil, add the marinated fish slices and cook on a medium flame for 5 to 8 minutes.
Finally, add a tablespoon of vinegar and then switch off the flame.
- This recipe can be used for fish like Rawas, Bombay ducks, etc.
- Adjust green chillies to suit your taste
- You can add coconut milk instead of fresh coconut.
- Vinegar is optional but it enhances the flavour of the fish curry.
