Green Fish Curry Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Slice of Rawas fish cut into cubes
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt

For the masala paste

  • ½ cup fresh grated coconut
  • ½ cup fresh coriander leaves
  • 5 - 6 green chillies
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 7 - 8 garlic flakes
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • few whole spices (cinnamon, cloves & pepper)
  • 1 lime size ball of tamarind

For the curry

  • 2 - 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 medium tomato chopped
  • 2 green chillies, slit
  • 2 cups water for the gravy add more if required.
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Wash the fish, add salt and turmeric and marinate for 5 - 10 minutes.
  • Grind the ingredients for the masala to a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a vessel, add chopped onion and curry leaves. Saute till onions are translucent.
  • Add the masala paste and fry for 1 - 2 minutes. Add the chopped tomato and green chillies.
  • Add 2 cups water and bring the curry to a boil. Now add the fish and simmer for 2 - 3 minutes till the fish is cooked. Add salt if required.
  • Green fish curry is ready. Serve with steamed rice or rotis.
