Ingredient for Prawn Jeere Meere
- 300 gms prawns shelled and deveined
- 2 medium onions sliced
- curry leaves a few
- 2 to 3 tbsp oil
- salt to taste
- 1 cup water. or as needed
Masala Paste
- 6 Kashmiri red chillies
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp peppercorns
- 7 garlic cloves
- ½ tsp turmeric
- small ball of tamarind soaked in warm water.
Grind all the masala ingredients into a smooth paste.
Heat oil and sauté the sliced onions.
Add the masala paste and fry until the oil separates. Add salt.
Add 1 cup water and bring to a boil.
Add prawns and curry leaves.
Cook for 7–8 minutes. Adjust the consistency and salt.
Turn off the heat and serve hot with rice or rotis.
- Do not overcook prawns.
- Use fresh prawns for the best flavours.
- Fry the masala till oil separates for best results.
- Adjust salt, water, and chillies to suit your requirements
