Air Fryer Tandoori Chicken - A Flavourful Twist on a Classic Dish

Flavourful chicken tandoori recipe in an air fryer, quick and easy to make and gets ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams Chicken Legs or 3 Chicken legs with thighs
  • 2 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice or juice of half a lemon
  • 2 tbsp Tandoori Masala Powder readymade
  • 2 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • ½ cup Yogurt/curd
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter for basting

Instructions
 

  • Wash the chicken legs and trim the fat. Make deep incisions on the chicken legs and set aside.
  • To make a marinade - In a bowl, add ginger-garlic paste, yogurt, tandoori masala powder, lemon juice, mustard oil and salt to taste. Mix well.
  • Add the chicken legs into the marinade and rub well. Marinate for at least 2 hour or overnight.
  • Pre-heat your air fryer at 200℃ for 3 minutes or as per the instructions in the manual.
  • Place the chicken legs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Then set the temperature to 190℃ and cook the chicken for 25 minutes. Flip half way through and continue cooking till done.
  • Serve with sliced onions, lemon wedges and mint chutney. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. Always pre-heat your air fryer for better results.
  2. Air frying time and temperature may vary depending on your oven.  Refer to the manual.
  3. You could skip readymade tandoori masala and use homemade spices instead. For this you'll need - Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tbsp, cumin powder - 1 tsp, coriander powder 2 tsp, garam masala - 1/2 tsp, turmeric - 1/4 tsp.  In addition you may like to add a pinch of food colouring.
  4. Serve with your favourite sides and enjoy.
